Decorating the tree is different tradition for different families. For some, ‘trimming the tree’ means hours of stringing popcorn, Bing Crosby Christmas Carols, or Aunt Mary overindulging in the Eggnog again. In my family, we always used to wait for everyone to be together before we hung the first ornament. And now, as my wife and I have our first Christmas together as newlyweds, we’re starting to make our own traditions. But whatever your traditions are this holiday season, we wanted to offer you all the chance to add to your tradition, or create a new one. So for today’s 12 Days of Christmas gift, we’ve decided to offer up instructions to making an origami Christmas ornament.
As with everything we do, we’ve put a natural twist on our ornament and given you directions to making a paper seahorse (After all, Christmas isn’t reserved just for reindeer and abominable snowmen). Seahorses are amazing little creatures that can be found across the world and in virtually any color you can imagine – so there’s no wrong paper to make them with! And if you’d like to know more about seahorses, their habitat and the current threat from Chinese medicinal demand, check out the folks over at Project Seahorse. And remember, only 6 days left till Christmas, so stick around for more gifts!
