Sinulog celebrations relay heavily on dancing and music. This year’s Sinulog festivities featured nine different marching bands; each adorned in their own special costumes and prepared to accompany nearly 20 dance numbers celebrating the arrival of Christianity to the Philippines. Although these outfits are meant to represent the traditional dress of their tribal relatives, Filipinos tend to draw costume inspiration from other culture’s native dress including Native Americans and early Chinese cultures.
